Jeweler Found Dead in New York City Store
Police discovered the body of Omid Gholian on Wednesday night in the bathroom of World of Gold N Diamond in Tribeca with zip ties around his neck.
New York--Police told news outlets that a man was found dead at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the bathroom of the World of Gold N Diamond jewelry store in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan.
The man was identified as 43-year-old Omid Gholian, a resident of Marine Park, Brooklyn. His death is being treated as a homicide.
Various news reports cite Gholian as either the owner or an employee of World of Gold N Diamond, which is at the corner of Church and Duane streets.
According to Pix 11, Gholian’s brother had reported him missing on Monday, and let police into the closed store on Wednesday evening.
Gholian was found in the bathroom with two zip ties around his neck and there was blood on the bathroom floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Strangulation is the speculated cause of death, though it’s now up to a medical examiner to determine.
No jewelry was taken from the store.
Both the New York Police Department and the Jewelers’ Security Alliance declined to comment on the case.
