8 Fantastic Earrings from the 2018 SAG Awards

While there were a few beautiful pairs set with white diamonds, our favorites came in color.

Kristen Bell was the first person to ever host the SAG Awards. She changed outfits a total of four times, ending the evening in another black dress with these platinum, diamond and jade earrings by Lorraine Schwartz as well as a platinum ring from the designer with carved emerald, black onyx and diamonds.
Los Angeles--Color returned to the red carpet at the 24th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

After wearing all black at the Golden Globe Awards as a statement of solidarity and in support of those who have come forward as victims of sexual harassment and assault, many actresses went back to wearing color Sunday night.

Reese Witherspoon, one of the leaders of the Time’s Up movement, wore a dark green dress and paired it with emerald jewelry, while “GLOW” star Alison Brie went red with a multi-colored sequined thunderbolt, topping it off with a dazzling pair of colored gemstone drop earrings.

Overall, the jewelry was fairly minimal, which isn’t unusual for this ceremony.

Sandwiched between the Golden Globes and the Oscars, the SAG Awards, which are selected by the actors themselves and honor work in both TV and movies, are known for being simpler and shorter.

Rings and earrings were mostly what attendees donned Sunday night and, while there were a couple beautiful pairs set with diamonds, our favorites came in color. And, of course, there were still plenty of Time’s Up pins on display.

“Lady Bird” writer and director Greta Gerwig had another big jewelry moment Sunday night. After donning a beautiful gold statement collar from Tiffany & Co. at the Golden Globes, she wore these earrings from Irene Neuwirth with her Bottega Veneta dress at the SAG Awards.

The one-of-a-kind earrings are 18-karat gold set with pink tourmaline, fire opal and diamond pavé. She also wore a one-off ring from the designer that is 18-karat gold, sunstone, pink tourmaline and diamond pavé.

“GLOW” star Alison Brie channeled her wrestling character, Zoya the Destroyer, in this red thunderbolt dress paired with these one-of-a-kind 18-karat gold, sapphire and lapis earrings from Irene Neuwirth.

It was a winning weekend for the whimsical designer. In addition to getting more high-profile red carpet placements, it was Neuwirth who took home the award in the jewelry designer category Friday night at the Gem Awards in New York City.

“Big Little Lies” star and producer Reese Witherspoon complimented her dark green dress with a pair of long diamond and cabochon emerald earrings, plus three “floating” diamond rings and a bracelet set with diamonds and pear-shaped emeralds from Gismondi1745’s L’Essenza collection (not pictured).

Singer and actress Mary J. Blige, a nominee for “Mudbound,” wore black and white David Webb jewels that matched her dress. She donned the brand’s “Midnight” earrings set with brilliant-cut diamonds, black onyx hoops and black enamel in 18-karat gold and platinum, plus (not pictured) a diamond and black enamel cigar band ring in 18-karat gold and the 18-karat yellow gold and platinum “Ski Slope” ring with brilliant-cut diamonds and black enamel.

Holly Hunter, nominated for her role in “The Big Sick,” wore gemstone and black enamel earrings by Hanut Singh. The earrings found their way to Hunter via Fred Leighton, which sells the Indian designer’s work at its store in New York City.

Yvonne Strahovski, who plays Serena Joy in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” wore Nirav Modi earrings and a ring (not pictured). The earrings, from the flower-inspired Jasmine collection, feature a combination of diamond briolettes with the company’s trademarked Jasmine-cut diamonds plus marquise and round rose-cuts. The ring, meanwhile, is from the Classic Embrace line of expandable jewels and features diamonds set in white gold.

Another of our favorite white diamond looks of the night came courtesy of Kate Hudson, who paired her pink and black heart-dotted dress (not a favorite among red carpet critics) with Forevermark diamond ear cuffs set in 18-karat white gold (total carat weight 6.91) and a Cluster Shield ring from the brand (not pictured), also in 18-karat white gold with 3.40 carats of diamonds.
