Diacore Buys 32-Carat Rough Pink Diamond for Nearly $14M
It was found at the Williamson mine in Tanzania after Petra resumed operations following a COVID-19 shutdown.
Diacore just bought this 32-carat rough pink diamond from Petra and will now analyze and cut it.
Johannesburg, South Africa—Diamond company Diacore announced it has purchased a 32.32-carat pink rough diamond from Petra for $13.8 million.
Petra uncovered the rough stone at its Williamson mine in Tanzania.
The stone was offered as part of Petra’s first tender of Williamson rough since it resumed operations at the mine after a nearly-two-year COVID-19 shutdown.
Diacore said its experts will analyze, design, and cut the pink diamond.
“This rare masterpiece of nature is a natural fit to our unique offering as cutters and marketeers of special diamonds,” Diacore chairman Nir Livnat said. “Looking forward to work with the team on a stellar one-of-a-kind gem.”
The diamond manufacturer also teamed up with De Beers to purchase a 39.34-carat blue diamond from the Cullinan Diamond Mine for $40.2 million in July, making it the single most expensive stone Petra has ever sold.
