Lapis Is One of Pantone’s Top Colors for Spring
It is one of the 10 shades the color institute predicts to be a hit come spring 2017.

Carlstadt, N.J.--With New York Fashion Week behind us, the Pantone Color Institute has weighed in on the 10 shades that will be prevalent across fashion and décor for spring 2017.
“One of the things that we saw this year was a renewed sense of imagination in which color was appearing in context that was different than the traditional,” Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman said of Fashion Week designs.
She noted that Pantone’s spring colors are “reminiscent of the hues that surround us in nature.”
Indeed, Lapis Blue was plucked straight from the gem world, and is the deepest, most saturated hue of the whole bunch.
Lapis Blue was joined by other blues and greens; Niagara is a medium-shade blue while Island Paradise is, like it sounds, reminiscent of tropical waters. Kale is an army-green neutral and Greenery is a bright, new-foliage-in-the-springtime shade.
Making up the other half of Pantone’s top 10 are a vibrant Primrose Yellow, an orange color called Flame, a hot pink named Pink Yarrow, plus a more demure, calm shade of pink called Pale Dogwood.
Hazelnut, a warm-but-muted light brown, is the exuberant group’s most neutral shade.
Will this vibrant assortment of colors translate to vivid shades of enamel or boldly-colored gemstones for jewelry designers? Only time will tell.
