Michal Kadar Named a ‘Rising Star’ by FGI
The New York-based jewelry designer, who got her start collecting seashells for her sculptor father, works in 18-karat yellow gold with diamonds.

New York--The Fashion Group International (FGI) named Michal Kadar of jewelry brand Cadar as its 2016 “Rising Star” in the area of fine jewelry.
FGI’s Rising Star Awards celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of emerging talents in the fashion and design industries.
Cadar, a New York City-based brand, offers jewelry made in 18-karat yellow gold with diamonds that focuses on light and form.
Kadar is the daughter of a sculptor and grew up collecting seashells her father would use in his pieces, developing an attention to detail and an affinity for the process of intricate work, according to the Cadar website.
She later studied art, fine jewelry and fashion, and opened a fashion boutique in Tel Aviv, which since has closed. She now lives in New York where she creates jewelry inspired by elemental beauty and unconventional design.
“Throughout my career, I have always maintained a fascination with the power and iconic nature of jewelry,” Kadar said. “My collections are inspired by the immeasurable beauty of nature and the world that surrounds us. Through each piece I strive to capture fleeting moments and translate them into lasting physical form. I am honored to have been recognized by FGI and to be among such talented peers.”
Kadar’s fellow nominees in the fine jewelry category of the Rising Star Awards were Natalie Frigo, Meredith Marks and Katie Scott.
The FGI’s 2015 Rising Star Award went to Paige Novick, and Margery Hirschey was honored in 2014.
