Borsheims has promoted Sunil Luthra, left, to chief operating officer and named Carrie Lehrke to senior director of human resources.
Omaha, Neb.—Borsheims has announced two recent internal promotions on its executive leadership team.

Sunil Luthra, formerly the vice president of technology and security, has been appointed chief operating officer.

In his new role, Luthra will lead several operational teams, including information technology, security, customer service, gift wrap, shipping, facilities, and the jeweler’s in-house repair shop.

He joined the retailer in 2010 as its director of information technology. During his tenure, Luthra has implemented new strategies for innovation, efficiency, automation, and data security.

Luthra is also the co-founder and co-chairman of the Adaptive Jewelry Users Group, which is a group of U.S. jewelry store employees who use Adaptive Jewelry Software powered by Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.

CEO Karen Goracke said, “As COO, Sunil’s enthusiasm and commitment to success will bring a new perspective to our operational areas. His vision and strategy for technology and operations will further align us for future efficiencies and growth.”

Carrie Lehrke, director of human resources, has been promoted to senior director of human resources.

She joined Borsheims in 1995 and has held positions in its customer service, gift sales, and inventory divisions.

In 1997, Lehrke joined the human resources department as its compensation and benefits administrator. She was promoted to human resources manager in 1999 and director of human resources in 2007.

In her time with Borsheims, she has managed and directed all areas of its employee relations, including recruitment and retention, onboarding and training, compensation and benefits, and company culture.

Goracke said, “Carie’s promotion is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and exceptional skills. I have no doubt that she will continue to excel in her new role and help drive our company’s success.”

Luthra and Lehrke’s appointments follow the retirement of longtime Borsheims executive Jennifer Johnson, who served as the vice president of human resources and retail operations.

Johnson was with the company for 40 years and established its first human resources department.
