Gucci Is Getting a Gem Award
The Italian luxury brand will receive the first Gem Award for High Jewelry Excellence.
Award organizers Jewelers of America and the Gem Awards Committee have announced Gucci as the inaugural recipient of the Gem Award for High Jewelry Excellence.
Gucci will receive the honor at the 21st annual Gem Awards, scheduled for March 17 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.
“The Gem Awards Committee is thrilled to add the Gem Award for High Jewelry Excellence category to our prestigious list of awards,” said JA’s Director of PR and Events Amanda Gizzi.
“Gucci continually pushes consumers to dream through [its] bold jewelry design aesthetic. We are thrilled to present the inaugural award to Gucci for their high jewelry collection.”
Like the other awards, the high jewelry honor will recognize Gucci based on the brand’s ability to drive consumer interest in the category.
Founded in Florence in 1921, Gucci is renowned as one of fashion’s greatest tastemakers.
In 2019, the brand led its expertise to high jewelry with the launch of its first collection, “Hortus Deliciarum” collection, meaning “garden of delights” in Latin. The fashion and accessory house has since launched two additions to the collections.
Earlier this month, Gucci showcased the third installment at its Parisian Place Vendôme boutique, concurrent with the haute couture and haute joaillerie presentations.
The new pieces found inspiration in the natural and animal kingdom, Gucci said, including riffs on the house’s oft-used lion’s head and tiger’s head motifs, cascading diamond necklaces, and bold colored gemstone rings surrounded by diamonds.
